Welcome to the life of journalism students

We work hard, go to class and have internships over the summers. Some of us report the news, some of us promote it and some of us sell it. When we’re still in school, we work in professional environments and try to better ourselves. We learn much of our trade out of the classroom.

We’re journalism students at the West Virginia University Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism.

At WVU, we have several college publications and broadcasts:

SOJ students also engage with other young journalists here and across the country with clubs and organizations like Society of Professional Journalists, RTDNA, PRSSA, ABJ and Her Campus.

As college journalists, we need to break the mold of just being students and act as journalists. We hope to observe and report what we see and learn from other college publications/media and communicate with them.
